Thorpe took on Stoughton & Thurnby on Saturday and came away with another win. Our newly imported captain from Kazachstan Andre Dropabolokov lost the toss and to everybodys surprise was asked to bowl.
Thorpe opened up with the pace of Luke Daisy Duke Clark at one end and the old swinger Phil James at the other. The pair of them again bowled excellently to get the dangerous openers out and yet still going for less than 2 runs an over.
Charles replaced Luke and he kept the good work up by taking 2 wickets as no Stoughton batsmen looked comfortable. Myles Hickman also bowled well to take 2 wickets as Phil kept one end secure backed up by some good fielding especially by the captain who stopped a ball in the meat and 2 veg ending up with just a chipolata and 1 brussel sprout left!
Stoughton ended up on 125-9 which would of been a lot less except for the last 2 batsmen smashing a quick 40 odd at the end.
After another top tea prepared by Mrs Dropabolokov our reply was similar to Stoughtons with runs hard to come by and we were reduced to 30-3 from 17 overs.
Nooky Bear Gant was next to go for 32 with Robert quickly following to leave us on 75 for 5. Jaimo came in to join Skid and that was the end of it for Stoughton as the two batsmen finished the game off in the 38th over, Skid ending on 50 not out with Jaimo scoring 24 not out. It must be noted that the Stoughton bowlers were trying to give Jaimo a single at the end of each over so that he kept the strike, to keep the more dangerous batsman away from it!
Another good performance that keeps us right in the hunt for promotion.....oi oi
Onwards and upwards.
