Presentation Evening

Thorpe Arnold Cricket Club presentation evening

Thorpe concluded another successful season on Saturday evening with the club dinner and presentation evening at their headquarters in Waltham Road

The club captain Andrew Keightley paid tribute to the first team and their progress in 2007 narrowly missing out on promotion for the 2nd season running mainly because of the dreadful weather and losing more games to the elements than their opponents in their division

2nd team skipper Ian Hickman was able to celebrate promotion for the second season running and pointed to a number of players that made significant contributions to the team throughout the season but was quick to point out that the success achieved in 2007 would not have been possible without an overall contribution from all those  who have turned out over the season and also cited a great team spirit amongst the players

Barry Lecoyte who led the 4th team to promotion in the Melton and Grantham League praised the number of young players in this development team and how they had improved and matured over the season with the guidance of a mix of senior players and some of the older young generation

Under 17 manager Ian Waldron reported on a season where the club finished 2nd in the league but again losing 65% of their fixtures to the weather throughout the summer. The most pleasing aspect was that this success was achieved mainly by a large contingent of the under 15 group playing above themselves in an excellent standard of cricket

Club chairman Richard Skelton wrapped things up at the end of the evening thanking all those behind the scenes who had helped throughout the season and without them there would have been no cricket and the club would not be able to revel in the reputation that it enjoys from it's many visitors throughout the season.

Those receiving awards for their significant contributions throughout the season were as follows:-
